Martin Edwards MBACP Dip ,TA Psychotherapeutic Counselling
Is anxiety getting in the way of day to day living? Have you felt depressed or generally low for a while and have had enough of coping with these feelings ? or perhaps you have relationship concerns?
People seek counselling and therapy for all sorts of reasons and talking to an objective person can be the first step in making sense of some of your behaviour and thought processes
I have worked with a broad range of people from a range of backgrounds. I have helped clients work through a whole range of difficulties including anxiety, depression, sexuality, relationships, bereavement, gender identity and addiction.
I offer a non-judgemental space and down to earth approach ,which will hopefully help you understand your self and your relationships more in order to live a more authentic life.
I offer short-term counselling as well as more long-term therapy.
Sometimes people just need a small number of sessions but if the issues are more complex then longer-term therapy can be really useful.
I have worked in Education for a number of years and have a good understanding of the issues affecting young people.
I also work at The Terrence Higgins Trust where I provide Counselling and Psychotherapy to gay men.
I have a particular interest in working with the LGBT community, young people and those affected by addiction.
GETTING IN TOUCH
I do appreciate that making that first step and getting in touch with a Counsellor can be quite daunting - That first step is often the hardest!
HOW IT WORKS:
if you do decide to make contact you can do so by my email or mobile
We will then arrange a mutually beneficial time to meet for an initial session. You are under no obligation to continue ,should you do this, but it will give you an opportunity to tell me a little more about what it is thats concerning you and to ask me any questions you may have
Typical Questions you may want to ask include :
How does Therapy work? How many sessions will I need? What happens if I want to stop?
You may also wish to ask me about my experience ,qualifications and training and enquire about my fees and cancellation policy.
Should we agree to work together we would usually agree a time slot ( usually weekly ) when we would meet and then we would see how we go from there
I hope this has helped a little and should you decide to get in touch I look forward to meeting you
