About me

Hi my name is Mark Wood. I am a Professionally Qualified Therapeutic Counsellor
Registered Member  MBACP (Accredited)

Have you lost your zest for life? Struggling with feelings or emotions and wonder what's going on?
Feeling depressed/anxious/angry/sad/stressed or Up & down with your moods? Or don't know what your feeling and don't know why it seems to impact on your life? Having thoughts that you just can't get out of your head?
Struggling with a relationship? wonder what your doing here or trying to find a reason to carrying on?

It is not a nice place to be.

Why not give me a chance to help you try to make sense of what's going on?

I work with  Emotions. Learning to understand what they mean to you, how they feel for you & where they come from can help free us to be who we feel we could be.

It  can  be very unsettling at times, I won't dress it up as a fun ride, but I believe emotions determine how we interpret ourselves in any given situation &  how we fit, or don't fit. Tough but rewarding I guess is my experience.
I can offer a free 1/2hr assessment meeting  to see if you feel we could work together

I specialise in working with Individual Adult Clients  and offer long term counselling or short term interventions/support

I have found  that experiencing life can be very different.
I feel my own very varied life experiences have given me the ability to understand and empathise with others in a very caring and non-judgemental way.
I'm told by my clients that I am easy to be with, supportive and very understanding.

I have experience working with

  • Relatioships
  • Anxiety
  • Addictions
  • Depression
  • Trauma
  • Suicidal thoughts/Self harm
  • Victims of abuse
  • Bereavement
  • Anger

Not forgetting the many issues and stresses we face in day to day life, fears about the future as well as the ones from the past stopping us living in the present.

It is my aim to offer support in a non-judgmental manner within a confidential and safe environment to help you explore your concerns
I work with a  person-centred approach and try to personally tailor it for you.
I believe we are all very unique in our own way and can all have very different needs.

I work from a comfortable office in Gravesend that is close to public services, there is public parking  close by. Unfortunately there is no disabled access at present.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
