About me

I provide Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for adolescents and adults with a variety of mental health difficulties. These include depression, anxiety, social anxiety, specific anxiety, O.C.D, Panic disorder, Health anxiety, personality disorder, P.T.S.D. and complex P.T.S.D. I also have a keen interest in working with self esteem as this allows the person to have a deeper introspection to their core beliefs and patterns of behaviour. With self-esteem work, we can also target assertiveness work, which allows the person to build confidence in whatever capacity they would like to.

Training, qualifications & experience

BSc Psychology; BSc Social Work; Postgraduate Certificate in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (International Institute of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy); Postgraduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (Belfast Cognitive Therapy Centre) BACP accredited; Postgraduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (Queens University Belfast)  BABCP accredited; Masters in Trauma (Specialism in P.T.S.D.) (Queens University Belfast)  BABCP accredited.

I worked as a Social Worker with children and adolescence for 4 years.  After training in CBT, I worked in two IAPT services in London for Two years.  I am currently working in the Psychological Therapies Services and have been doing so for 5 plus years.  This is specifically working with adult mental health within the stepped care model.

I am currently accredited with BABCP which means I am always engaging in the most recent conferences and literature as this permits me to practice to the gold standard of psychotherapy.

Areas of counselling I deal with

Other areas of counselling I deal with

I have a specialism in P.T.S.D. which allows me to utilise the trauma focused CBT model for type 1 trauma such as R.T.A. and single incident traumatic events.

I also have a keen interest in working with O.C.D. for adolescents and adults.

Whilst working with childhood sexual abuse is more longer term work, I thoroughly enjoy sharing the journey of recovery with people that have been hurt in this way. I will adapt a more standardised CBT model, such as using a narrative exposure therapeutic approach.
