About me

You might feel anxiety or feel isolated, depressed and stressed. A safe place to talk is a positive step to feeling better.

Thank you for visiting my page. I understand life can be difficult. You might not be sure what happened but you don't know who you are anymore. You may be feeling hopeless and so alone and worried that you will never feel calm and happy. You may feel sad, anxious or overwhelmed by your thoughts and feelings. You don't want to try and cope with this on your own anymore. These feelings are nothing to be scared or ashamed of. Together we can help you overcome the challenges you are facing.

Counselling may help if…

  • you are feeling sad, stressed, tense or on edge
  • you suffer from anxiety, panic attacks, phobias or generalised anxiety disorder
  • you are having relationship issues or family issues
  • you are going through separation or divorce
  • you are feeling confused, isolated, or think your life lacks meaning
  • you have experienced the death of a someone you love
  • you experience mid-life crisis or retirement challenges
  • you are worried about your ageing or sick parent
  • you would like to work on your self esteem.
  • you are coming to terms with an ADHD diagnosis

What can I expect from a counselling session?

I will provide you with a warm, safe and confidential place where you can talk about yourself and your life. You will be able to think and talk things over in a way that you can’t with family and friends and I will listen to you without criticism or judgement. Thinking about counselling can be difficult and I will gently guide you through the process.

Be as open as you can be in every session, even if you find that difficult. Talk about any feelings you experienced after the previous session. You may have felt confused, sad, unsure about returning or even angry. That’s perfectly normal and don’t be afraid to share those feelings with me. Together we can try to find a way forward that is right for you, no matter how large or small your problems feel. By offering support and a different way of looking at the difficulties you are experiencing, I can help you to understand yourself and your problems better.

First Steps Forward

Counselling sessions last for 50 minutes and are held on the same day, at the same time, every week. I do have some flexibility for people who have shift work.

At the end of your first appointment, we will talk about whether counselling is the right step for you. A course of counselling typically needs at least 12 sessions. It is important that you feel comfortable talking about yourself with me and this may take a little time to establish.

I offer a free 15 minute phone consultation where we can discuss in a little more detail the reasons you are considering counselling, you can ask me any questions you may have and we can see how we both feel about working together in a therapeutic way.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have worked in a GP surgery in Golders Green NW11 working with clients mainly experiencing anxiety and depression and trauma. Now I work from my room in Finchley.

I trained with Place2be where I worked with children with anxiety, behavioural issues, trauma, ADHD, bereavement & low self esteem

I have a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. I am a registered member of the BACP and I adhere to their ethical framework. The BACP are the main professional body that regulates the counselling profession in the UK.

I am an ADHD informed therapist having worked with adults and children pre and post-diagnosis. If you are looking for an ADHD diagnosis I will be able to guide you through the process as I know it can be very overwhelming.

I am committed to my own Continuous Personal Development and continue to attend training courses. I also attend regular supervision this ensures I am offering you the best possible service.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Working with ADHD

I have experience working with ADHD and recognise the difficulties you face and the labels you have carried since a young age. ADHD is chronic and I will take you seriously and understand that it is not your fault. If the primary symptoms of ADHD ( such as impulsivity, angry outbursts, disorganisation, procrastination, poor time management etc) are not addressed they lead to anxiety and depression and you may be misdiagnosed. ADHD might be at the root of the anxiety and depression and by managing your ADHD you may diminish the anxiety and depression.

I will help you acknowledge painful emotions in a safe space. Whatever your age at diagnosis you may have lived with low self-esteem and emotional pain all your life. You have a story to tell and lessons to teach and I am here to listen to you with compassion and empathy and no judgement. You no longer have to suffer in silence. The goal is to help you develop and focus on your strengths. You will be encouraged to get in touch with and express your deepest feelings in the secure knowledge that you will not be rejected, criticized, nor expected to be different. This sorting out process which occurs within your mind may bring with it a sense of peace.
