Anxiety Therapist

About me

Hi I’m Lyanne, I’m down to earth, warm, non-judgmental and straight talking. I offer short-term therapy, up to 12 weeks, which usually has a specific focus on helping you resolve a specific issue, or to achieve a particular goal. I work with anxiety based issues, whatever the cause may be.

I work integratively, using a blend of counselling to explore what’s troubling you, and psychotherapeutic tools to help you learn ways to make the changes you want. These include; Psycho-education to teach you how your mind works, behavioural and cognitive approaches to change negative thinking patterns, trauma based techniques if required (EMDR, Rewind Technique for Trauma, EFT tapping) and in some cases, Hypnotherapy. Exactly which approaches we will use will depend on your personality and preferences.

Do you have something that you’d like to resolve, but are finding yourself stuck with how to move forwards? Perhaps you know something isn’t right, or that you want to move forwards, but need some support figuring out how to get there. If there’s a pattern you want to change, a fear you want to overcome or a relationship that you need to discuss with someone impartial, short term, focused therapy could help.

I offer sessions at my Colchester office, or online. You can read more about me and how I work on my website, which is linked to this profile, but if you’re looking specifically for online therapy to help with anxiety based issues such as OCD, phobias, trauma or anxiety, you can visit my specialist website at to read more.

For those who know a bit about therapy already: I am Integrative trained with a Humanistic view, drawing from psychotherapy techniques such as EMDR, CBT tools, psychodynamic approaches (exploratory not analytical) and ERP.

In plain English this means I believe that people are capable of figuring out what is troubling them but need support when they get stuck or become overwhelmed (and so seek therapy).  My website blog has some panic attack information & tips which you may find useful & I made some free videos with a colleague, which you can watch on our youtube channel.

I'm also a qualified Hypnotherapist so am happy to add this into your sessions to help you relax or explore issues at a deep level. Please ask me about this if it's something you're interested in.

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
