About me
Taking the first steps to talk about how you feel can be daunting.
Maybe you’re in a difficult relationship or you feel that your relationships don’t last. Many of us struggle to make a life transition or cope with a change or loss in our lives. Perhaps you feel your life is lacking meaning.
I can help you make sense of these experiences by understanding their meaning for you and explore ways in which you can help yourself and develop personally.
When you have a greater understanding of yourself, you can find a new perspective on your feelings that may not have felt possible before. Sometimes even small changes in how we view things can make a difference.
As a psychodynamic counsellor, I think a better appreciation of your early life experiences, can lead to a new perspective on your feelings now. We are connected to people throughout our lives and are influenced by parents, family and culture. An awareness of these patterns can be freeing in itself.
We often limit ourselves with judgements and self criticism. Together we can think about the ways in which you can be more compassionate towards yourself.
Seeking counselling for the first time is a positive step in terms of self-care with people often realising this once they start the process of exploration.
I have experience of working with adults both short and long-term in relation to anxiety and depression, loss and bereavement, life changes, relationships, abuse, sexuality, low self-esteem and personal development. I have a particular interest in how we move through the stages of life and how our perspectives change and are influenced by this. With a background in nursing, I'm also interested in working with those in the 'helping professions'.
I offer one to one counselling both short and long-term, usually on a weekly basis.
You can contact me by email and we can then arrange to have a 15 minute phone call to discuss what you're looking for and I can explain more about how I work. If you wish to go ahead we can book in an initial meeting in the room or online.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
