About me

My name is Lucy Johnson & I am an accredited counsellor with the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy & have been qualified since 2019. I provide a safe space for clients to talk about their difficulties and emotions. I help clients to understand themselves, to reach their goals, dreams & desires & I help clients to trust in themselves & grow to their full potential. I listen to client's needs & concerns & I help clients with anxiety, low mood, depression, anger, bereavement, low self-worth, low confidence & relationship problems. I provide an empathetic, non-judgmental, safe and open space for clients to talk.

I work with people from the age of 18 upwards & I work every Wednesday & Thursday between 12pm to 8pm. Counselling sessions last for 50 minutes which are weekly or fortnightly sessions.

Training, qualifications & experience

I studied at the University of Huddersfield from 2008 to 2011 & I passed the BSc (HONS) in Counselling Studies.

I started training to become a counsellor when I studied at The Manchester College for the Level 5 Diploma in Therapeutic counselling from 2016 to 2019.

I gained a Person-centred experiential counselling for depression qualification in 2023 & I studied with the University of Central Lancashire.

I became an accredited counsellor in 2023.

I have 5 years of experience working as a counsellor for various NHS talking therapy services. I worked as a counsellor for Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation trust from September 2021 to July 2023. From July 2023 I was offered a permanent counselling job with Cora Health & I left Cora Health to start working as a counsellor for West London NHS Trust in the Hounslow talking therapies service in April 2026 & I had to leave in July 2026 due to the distance to London.

I decided to start my own counselling business due to leaving West London NHS Trust whilst working as a part-time sessional counsellor for another company.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
