About me

In the waves of change we find our true direction

Sometimes, when everything feels like it is in flux, we have an opportunity to become who we are meant to be.

Coming to know our neurodivergent identity can cause ripples that spread out through all areas of our live, as we begin to understand how it has always impacted on the way we move through the world. But it can also give us an opportunity to make the changes we need to reduced our levels of dysregulation and distress as we curate a sustainable and balanced life that works for us.

We exist in different roles, different spaces and different relationships; we are messy. For many high masking, or unknown neurodivergent folk, this can often lead to tension within ourselves as we try and fit into who we think we 'should' be rather than letting ourselves be who we are.

It can lead to us feeling stuck, unfulfilled and disconnected from ourselves.

Can you imagine how it would feel to be at peace with all of the parts of you, to craft a life where they were all valued and nourished?

I am a queer, neurodivergent therapist who has done exactly this after coming to know my autistic self and developing a chronic illness that meant I couldn't carry on as before. I love working with clients who are exploring their own neurodivergence and want to begin making changes to bring them closer to a sustainable and balanced life that makes space for all of who they are.

We will do this by a obtaining a greater depth of understanding of your individual neurodivergent identity and how it impacts on all areas of your life. By integrating the different aspects of your own identity and learning to attend to your individual needs with kindness and compassion you can learn to navigate the waves and ripples you are experiencing.

What to expect in your first session
While all session, like clients, are different, many people who have not had counselling before are unsure of where to start and can find a first session quite overwhelming. If that is the case for you then I will usually suggest that we spend the first session mapping out what is currently going on in your life and talking about any areas that you might like to explore in therapy. If you already have a clear idea of what you would like to address in counselling then I will be lead by you. The important part is that we will work together to find a way that works for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

My training was integrative, which means that it covered several different types of counselling (Person Centred, CBT, Systemic and Psychodynamic). Since qualifying I have completed additional training in Compassion Focused Therapy and Brief Solution Focused Therapy.

Because my training has been varied, I can tailor my way of working to suit your changing needs. Sometimes you might want a place to talk and explore whatever is coming up for you that day, but on other occasions you might want to work with a structured exercise. The most important part of how I work is that it will be led by you, we will talk about what does and does not feel helpful in all our sessions.

I work with adults (18+) for both short-term and longer-term work. While I have experience of working with a range of issues, I have a particular interest in working with people at times of change and transition, as well as those who wish to gain a better understanding of their own identities. I also have specific experience of working with people who identify as LGBTQIA+ and Neurodivergent.
