About me
Taking the first step towards counselling can sometimes feel daunting, particularly if you are going through a difficult or uncertain time. I offer a warm, supportive and non-judgmental space where you can talk openly about whatever is bringing you to counselling and feel truly heard.
As an integrative counsellor, I draw upon a range of therapeutic approaches to meet your individual needs. I believe that everyone’s experience is unique, and I will work alongside you at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
I can support you with a range of difficulties, including anxiety, low mood, stress, grief and loss, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties and challenging life experiences. You may also simply feel that something isn’t quite right and want a safe space to explore your thoughts and feelings.
My approach is centred around building a trusting therapeutic relationship where you can feel safe to explore the difficulties you are facing. Together, we can work towards developing greater understanding, finding ways to cope with challenges and moving towards positive change.
I offer 50-minute counselling sessions and currently work with adults. Sessions are available in person, online or by telephone.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a Foundation Degree in Integrative Counselling and am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), working in accordance with their Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.
My training is integrative, with a person-centred approach at the heart of my work. This allows me to draw upon different therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and psychodynamic theory, depending on the individual needs of each client.
As part of my professional training, I gained counselling experience within a primary care setting, supporting adults experiencing a range of difficulties including anxiety, panic attacks, low mood, grief and bereavement, stress, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem and challenging life circumstances.
I am committed to my ongoing professional development and regularly undertake additional training to continue developing my knowledge and therapeutic practice. I also attend regular clinical supervision in line with professional and ethical requirements.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
