About me

Hello, my name is Linda Hanley. I am a qualified integrative counsellor, registered with the BACP.   I provide counselling for adults over 18 years of age in the North East Derbyshire and surrounding areas.  I am an open and friendly person and have a genuine interest in helping others.

I can offer short-term and long-term counselling in a safe, professional and confidential environment for you to explore any issues, thoughts and feelings that you are dealing with.

I will give you the time, privacy and support required to explore aspects of your life you may feel you need to understand better, or areas in which you would like to grow. Somewhere you can talk comfortably, knowing that I am impartial and unconnected with your everyday life and as someone with who you can share thoughts and feelings.

I have experience of working with adults with additional needs, both in the NHS and private counselling sector for over 20 years.  I can help you to manage anxiety and guide you to better mental health through compassionate listening and cognitive behavioural techniques.

I have a special interest and experience of working with people with both additional needs and autism, helping them navigate difficult emotions and experiences, gain clarity, and move forward in a positive direction.

There are moments in everyone's life when you may feel overwhelmed and anxious.  It is at times like these that you need to feel able to share your feelings and explore any difficulties you may be experiencing.  Whatever your reasons for seeking support, I will provide you with a safe and welcoming space, where you can talk openly and honestly, and be really heard.

I offer face to face appointments in my Chesterfield based private practice with wheelchair access, alongside online sessions and telephone counselling.

Training, qualifications & experience

My approach to working with clients is an integrative one. This means that I believe that every one is individual and different things work for different people. Therefore I adapt my approach to suit the individual I am working with. It is important that the work we do together is beneficial to you and therefore I will be led by what works for you

I am an experienced counsellor and a registered member of the BACP and ensure that the ethical framework for good practice in counselling and psychotherapy guides my practice. I attend regular on-going supervision for my work in accordance with professional requirements to ensure that I am working with you to the best of my ability.

Additionally, I have extensive experience of working with adults with learning disabilities and have worked within this field for over 16 years.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Key details

Wheelchair user access
Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.

I am located on the outskirts of Chesterfield, approximately 20 minutes from the M1 J29. There is free roadside parking near to the premises and good links to bus services around the area.
