About me

Hello my name is Liam. I am a BACP (registered) member after completing a Level 3 certificate in Counselling Skills and a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. I practise in Mirfield, West Yorkshire.

Are you suffering from stress, feeling like there is a lot to deal with, experiencing loss or in a job that you want to move on from but you cannot concentrate as there are too many subjects going on all at the same time. Counselling can be a really good way for you to be able to explore and express your feelings and thoughts in a safe environment without judgement.

My aim, by working with you is to give you the best opportunity to explore your thoughts and feelings, just like putting all the pieces from a jigsaw on a table, if you spread the pieces all out in front of you, its easier to see your options and choices. Counselling can offer you time and space without judgement, to be able to build your own picture to help you create a better life, job, relationships or whatever it is that is on your mind.

I have experience working face to face with clients suffering from low self esteem, stress, anxiety, depression, loss, addictions and just being stuck. I have seen first hand how people grow and develop their true selves by helping them to begin a journey to live their lives the way they want to. We all have the right to live a peaceful and fulfilled life and I am passionate about assisting people to achieve this for themselves.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

I work in a person-centred way which means I do not tell you what to do or what to think. By listening to you explore your thoughts and feelings it is my role to accompany you on this journey of exploration by offering a different view point, different perspectives, but ultimately decisions and choices are all yours.

I offer therapy face to face in a purpose-built environment and also via Zoom or Teams to help you feel comfortable and safe. I have spent over 20 years in the construction industry and for the last 12 years I have been working for Yorkshire Ambulance Services, and in that time I have had a great deal of experience working face to face with people from all walks of life and a lot of different age groups; and I see counselling as being extremely beneficial for individuals to create that posativity which, then like a pebble in a pond, ripples through not only the individual’s life but their relationships, friendships, work life balance, which in turn hopefully leads to a better society that we all want to be a part of.

Please feel free to leave a voice message or text or email with your contact details and instructions of time or day for me to contact you, in order to maintain confidentiality, and I will contact you as soon as possible to arrange a no-obligation free 15 minute telephone call, this will help you to decide if you feel comfortable to work with me. You can expect me to be attentive and on your side at all times. Sessions are all about you, what you would like to work on and the direction you would like to take.

The next step would be for us to arrange either a face to face meeting, Zoom or Teams counselling session for 55 minutes. My working days and time are flexible and I charge £50 per session. I look forward to working with you.
