About me
Hello, I’m Lena. I am a psychodynamic counsellor working with adults (21+) in-person in Basingstoke, as well as online or over the phone. I offer once-weekly sessions on an open-ended basis, or within a time-limited frame, depending on your needs. Currently I have availability on Tuesdays and Wednesdays only. As I am a fully qualified, BACP registered therapist with a broad experience, we can work together on a large variety of issues and themes, such as depression, anxiety, difficulties within relationships and family, grief, psychosomatic illnesses, or simply feeling ‘off’ without knowing what is going on.
I work with a psychodynamic approach because I believe lasting change comes from understanding the roots of our difficulties, not just managing symptoms. This kind of work tends to suit people who sense there's more going on beneath the surface, who've maybe tried other things that haven't quite got to the heart of it.
Starting therapy can be daunting, and I know that searching for a therapist on directories can feel impossible at times. I want to offer you reassurance, in that it is completely natural to feel like that, and also invite you to a free 15-minute conversation, in which we can explore what you might need at this point, and discuss any questions.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling and have worked with clients both in a charity setting, as well as in private practice. I am registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (Member No. 414398) and undertake regular training and professional development.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
Areas of counselling I deal with
Other areas of counselling I deal with
As psychodynamic counselling tends to look at the roots of our patterns, dynamics, and behaviours, many more areas of concern than listed above can be worked with. Not finding your personal concern in the areas listed here, does not mean we can not work together.
