About me

About me and my practice

I am a Relate-trained counsellor and clinical supervisor; As well as couples, I work with individuals and young people who want help with their relationships.

All relationships have their own challenges; you may want to seek support now because of a problem you are facing - perhaps you have frequent arguments or there has been an affair.  Maybe you have difficulties in your sexual relationship or you are having trouble finding the right person.  Sometimes couples struggle with a decision - whether or not to have a baby, for example, or whether to separate.  I provide a safe space where you can talk about your thoughts and feelings, and where you can explore what you want for yourself and your relationship.  Together we will try to understand why the problem has happened now; we will look at what changes you want and how to bring them about.

In addition to relationship work, I am experienced in working with anxiety and depression, low self-esteem, substance abuse, parenting issues, autism, stress and anger, bereavement and loss.

I also specialise in supporting people whose lives are affected by cancer.  I can help you with the impact on your life of a diagnosis - either for yourself or for someone you care about.

I draw from several therapeutic approaches - integrative, psychodynamic, systemic - and use a range of interventions to help you acquire new insight and awareness as well as the changes you want.  This is your counselling so I work collaboratively with you to reach the outcomes you want.  Your feedback is important; we will regularly review how the counselling is going.  You will feel listened to and not judged, and together we will reflect on your present difficulties to better understand them.

My first session

In our first session we will explore what it is that has brought you to counselling.  I ask you questions about yourself and explain how I work.  We can then think about whether my way of working is what you are looking for.

Currently because of Covid-19 I am offering online and telephone counselling only.

To arrange an initial session please send me a text on 07847 581659 or send me an email.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
