About me

Life has its ups and downs and we all need help sometimes. If you are struggling with something and considering counselling, I am here for you. Most importantly, I offer a safe and confidential space for you to talk about anything that is on your mind. I encourage an open and honest environment free of any judgements.

I work with individual clients aged 18+ on a 1:1 basis, offering online and telephone counselling.

I find that many clients appreciate both the accessibility and privacy online and telephone counselling offers.

I encourage all clients to be aware of their needs in the therapy space and to let me know what is working for them or if there is more you would like from a session. This way we can tailor the sessions to meet your needs.

I have experience supporting clients with a wide range of issues including:

  • Anxiety
  • Addiction
  • Relationships
  • Grief and loss
  • Depression or low mood
  • Isolation and loneliness
  • Sexual Assault / Sexual Abuse
  • Trauma
  • Shift Work Issues
  • Body Image/ Identity

As a person-centred therapist, I believe you are the expert in your own story and I am committed to offering a safe space where you can explore your understanding of yourself, your relationships and your experiences in a deep and meaningful way.

I believe in allowing the client to set the pace and direction of our work, meaning that from the outset you are in control of what you choose to talk about and how much you choose to share. Although my work is grounded in a person-centred approach I am able to integrate tools from other modalities such as CBT or psychodynamic therapy to suit the needs and preferences of each client.

I am a MBACP registered therapist and ascribe to BACP's ethical framework. In line with this commitment to ethical practice, I undertake regular supervision with a highly experienced clinical supervisor.

Training, qualifications & experience

I graduated in Person-Centred Counselling & Psychotherapy through the University of Highlands and Islands. This diploma level training is formally regulated and accredited by COSCA. I am committed to ongoing professional development and continue to undertake regular additional training to support me in providing clients with the best possible therapy experience.

I have a Bachelors (Honours) Degree in Forensic Psychology and Sociology: Young Lives, Parenting and Families, and a Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.

I hold a certificate in Online and Telephone Counselling and I am fully insured with Hiscox.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
