About me

Hello, I'm Kathy, a BACP registered counsellor offering therapy to children, young people, and young adults aged 5-25. I provide a warm, safe, and confidential space where you can explore your feelings, make sense of difficult experiences, and work towards positive change.

I work primarily from a psychodynamic approach, which means we'll explore how your past experiences and relationships might be affecting how you feel now. I also draw on CBT techniques when practical strategies would be helpful. I aim to work with you in a way that feels right for you - at your pace and tailored to your needs.

I have specialist training in supporting neurodivergent clients, including those with autism and ADHD. I understand that neurodivergent individuals experience and process the world differently, and I adapt my approach to ensure therapy feels accessible and comfortable for you.

I offer both short-term and long-term therapy, depending on what you're looking for. Sessions are 50 minutes and available both face-to-face and online, giving you flexibility to work in the way that suits you best.

Whether you're struggling with anxiety, depression, loss, grief, trauma, or simply feeling stuck or overwhelmed, I'm here to support you. Therapy can feel daunting, especially if it's your first time, but I'll work with you to create a space where you feel heard, understood, and supported.

If you'd like to know more or book an initial session, please get in touch. I look forward to hearing from you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold an MA in Child and Adolescent Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy, alongside a PG Diploma in IAPT Therapies (Autism Spectrum Conditions/Learning Disabilities) and a BSc in Psychology and Counselling Skills.

My background includes many years working in pastoral roles within secondary schools, where I supported young people through a wide range of emotional and behavioural challenges. I then moved into specialist therapeutic trauma support for young people, which deepened my understanding of how trauma affects development and wellbeing.

This combination of educational, pastoral, and therapeutic experience has given me a comprehensive understanding of the needs of children, young people, and young adults. I'm particularly skilled in working with neurodivergent clients and those who have experienced trauma, loss, or disruption in their lives.

I am registered with the BACP and committed to ongoing professional development to ensure I provide the highest standard of care.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
