About me
I am an experienced counsellor who helps adults who are feeling anxious or depressed and who have experienced trauma and bereavement. I provide face to face sessions in my Bakewell consultancy room and also interactive online appointments. Working with me is a gateway for you to feel better.
I know counselling helps. It provides a safe environment to talk about your problems without judgement. You may feel stuck in life, or be struggling to come to terms with a big change in your life. You may be navigating grief or having difficulty processing a traumatic event. You may feel like you have lost hope, hope in yourself and hope for your future. I believe everyone has the ability to find new ways of thinking about things and try new approaches to life.
Whether you have had counselling before or you are taking the first steps to feel better, you’ll find my approach friendly, welcoming and professional. No-one should suffer mental health difficulties alone.
I am a fully qualified counsellor registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and work to their Ethical Framework. My counselling sessions will be unique to you and your circumstances. I am an integrative counsellor which means I work from a person-centred perspective and am also trained in and use cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and transactional analysis. This approach ensures I tailor my counselling sessions to meet your individual needs. I practice from a trauma informed approach gained from my experience working in charities supporting survivors of domestic abuse and leading bereavement groups.
How I can help:
- Explore the causes of anxiety, depression and poor mental health
- Work with you on unhelpful patterns of behaviour, thoughts and coping strategies
- Process traumatic experiences and restore control over trauma reactions
- Have a better understanding of bereavement and the associated feelings that death can introduce into your life
- Integrate the feelings of loss into your life and support you as you adapt to a new way of life
- Find tools and techniques that work for you to improve your resilience and live your life more fully and with self-compassion
Making a start
I provide a free 15 minute phone consultation where you can ask me any questions about my counselling and what you can expect if we work together. If you would like to try counselling, please get in touch.
Your sessions
I offer two types of counselling:
Face to face in my consultancy room in Bakewell which is situated in peaceful grounds with free parking, right in the heart of the Peak District National Park.
Or confidentially and securely online. Or a mixture of both.
Each 50 minute session is a non-judgemental safe space to explore your feelings, thoughts and emotions. The work we do together is completely confidential.
The number of sessions I use in my counselling is dependent on my clients needs. I offer short term and long term counselling and single sessions. I have availability on Wednesdays and offer appointments between 8am and 6pm.

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
