About me

We all face difficult challenges throughout our lives, including relationship difficulties, anxiety, work related stress, illness and loss and bereavement.

Counselling provides the opportunity to talk things through in a safe confidential space. As we work together, I will make every effort to be respectful, non-judgemental and non bias.  It is my personal belief that building a good counselling working relationship is key to bringing about positive change.

As a qualified Person-centred counsellor my approach is non-directive, which means that I do not give advice. However I will try to help you gain a different perspective on your situation.  You of course are the expert of your life, and have all the resources to know what is best for you.  I can try to help you make sense of your thoughts and feelings by exploring options and new ideas. Hopefully this will lead to you gaining greater clarity on your situation.

I currently offer face-to-face, telephone and online video counselling. To ensure you are getting the most from your counselling sessions, we will regularly review our work together.

In order to maintain my skills within my practice, I have regular supervision in accordance with the BACP guidelines.  I work with my own personal counsellor to ensure I address my own issues.

If you have any questions or would like to know more about what is involved in counselling, please do not hesitate to contact me via this page.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
