About me

Thank you for viewing my profile

Hello! My name is Jonathan and I'm a fully qualified, BACP registered counsellor.

There are times in our lives when we all need some help and support. Pressures of work, family and relationships can be challenging and we can feel lost, overwhelmed or just stuck, losing connection to ourselves and our own needs.

Counselling offers a unique relationship in a safe confidential space without judgement to explore and process your thoughts and feelings and to reconnect with your true self with compassion and understanding.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

How we will work together

Drawing from gestalt theories bringing together the body and mind, I will work with you to understand how we see and interact with the world can be triggered by past experiences and become aware of repeating cycles. We can work in a range of ways that suit you, from talking therapy to more creative approaches such as sandtray, parts work, significant objects, drawing and music.

Through our collaborative work together, we can raise awareness of any patterns that may be impacting your life, gain a deeper understanding of the experiences that have shaped you in your past, and connect with who you are and how you interact with the world. Working together, with your values and goals, and we can build on emotional resources to support you beyond therapy.

Building a therapeutic relationship

I believe that the therapeutic relationship should be a space where clients can be fully themselves and listened to without fear of judgment. I will always give you the time and space you need, and we will work at a pace that suits you to build trust in our relationship for you to feel safe to explore your thoughts and feelings.
