About me
Hi, Welcome to my page and thank you for visiting. My name is Jo.
Life can be difficult sometimes, talking through our thoughts and emotions with someone who understands can help. I can offer a caring, warm and confidential space to help children cope better with their thoughts and feelings, to find coping strategies to feel better about worries and experiences in a non judgmental safe space. I work with children through therapeutic play to help them work through issues and build confidence and self esteem. I look to support children to find wisdom within to come up with their own solutions, through talk and therapeutic play, this form of therapy includes sand tray, sensory toys and art meaning that things too painful or complicated to put into works can also be expressed and explored.
My practice is rooted in the person centred approach which is non directive meaning I am client led therefore the child leads and I follow, supporting them through their journey. This is gentle and can be enjoyable at times as connecting with thoughts and emotions can have deep and meaningful changes. I am caring and approachable, I like to bring laughter and light hearted humour into the therapeutic process of healing, growth and well being. I am passionate about early interventions and supporting children to build resilience to engage with life to thrive and flourish, empowering children to develop good mental health and wellbeing. I have experience in primary school based counselling in both Pembrokeshire and Cardiff.
I abide by a strict code of ethics outlined by the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychology) www.bacp.co.uk
It is important to find a therapist you feel you can build a good working relationship with and feel safe to work through difficulties with. With this in mind, I like to offer an initial 10 minute telephone consultation.
I can be contacted via email or you can leave a message

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
