About me
Hi, I'm Jo,
I offer a warm, compassionate space where you can feel truly heard. I believe that being listened to – without judgment or agenda – is a powerful starting point for change.
I’m an integrative counsellor with a particular interest in working with low self-esteem, stress, and anxiety. My approach is rooted in person-centred therapy, which means our work together is guided by you – your pace, your story, your goals.
I believe therapy can help free us from ingrained beliefs that no longer serve us – beliefs that quietly shape how we see ourselves and move through the world.
We can try to create a space where those patterns can be gently explored and understood.
While our sessions are led by your needs, I may also draw on elements of other modalities to help shift unhelpful thinking patterns and support meaningful change.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a Level 4 diploma in therapeutic counselling from Community Counsellor Training in Canterbury and I am a member of the BACP.
I'm a volunteer counsellor at Crossroads Kent, a charity supporting unpaid carers, a cause close to my heart both personally and professionally.
Prior to my counsellor training I worked for many years in a supportive role for elderly and vulnerable people and this is where I discovered my passion for helping people and my belief in the person centred approach.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Additional information
My sessions last for 50 minutes and can be held in my office in Ramsgate or online. I charge £45 per session and I ask for the fee to be paid 24 hours in advance.
I believe in building a strong sustainable relationship with my clients so I offer longer term clients a discount for block booking.
I also realise that for some with the greatest need private counselling may not be affordable so I offer a limited number of spaces to clients who are experiencing financial difficulty and who may not otherwise be able to access counselling. These are charged at £25 per session. Please contact me if you would like to be considered for this although there is currently a small waiting list for these sessions.
