About me

Hi, I’m Jo, a registered BACP counsellor based in North Leeds. My primary focus is to create a welcoming, safe space where our therapeutic relationship can develop, as we work together to help you address whatever you would like to explore. After all, how you feel about yourself is everything.

In a world where we often feel like we are being pulled in all directions, taking care of others, can often become our priority. I can offer you the support you might need to focus on you. Placing you at the centre of the counselling process, is what I strive to do as I listen, care and support you, as we begin to work together.

Adult Clients

Therapy is your opportunity to talk without judgement, as we explore your feelings, thoughts and behaviours. It is a way to find help, maybe uncover and deal with unresolved issues and gain valuable insights as we navigate your personal challenges and experiences. Through having the time, space and support, I hope to help you feel heard, as we work together to find ways to make changes, start the healing process and enhance your wellbeing; providing you with the self-confidence to move forward.

Children and Young People

The backbone to my counselling is in building a positive therapeutic relationship. My priority with children and young people is to make sure I provide a friendly and safe space, so they feel comfortable and relaxed. I have found that this is key in supporting Children and Young Peoples’ thinking, understanding and ability to explore their feelings, whilst focusing on their wellbeing. This builds trust and allows the child or young person to be open and express themselves.

A final word

I am compassionate, a good listener and insightful. I can help you to develop effective coping strategies, make healthier lifestyle choices, strengthen relationships, and learn to set healthy boundaries. Counselling is about enhancing your self-worth. It isn’t always easy, but together I can help you move forwards with your life in a positive direction.

Contact me

Whether you would like to enhance your wellbeing or focus on specific issues, making that initial contact can be difficult. If you would like to get started on creating positive change or would just like to see what it’s all about, please call, email or text, whatever feels most comfortable, and I will get back to you as soon as possible, with no obligation.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
