About me
Hello and thank you for visiting my profile. I am an experienced counsellor based in Cheltenham, offering face to face counselling for adults and young people aged 14 and upwards. As well as private practice, I am a Specialist Eating Difficulties Counsellor working with TIC+ (Teens In Crisis), a Gloucestershire based charity. I am fully insured, DBS checked, BACP registered and work in accordance with their ethical framework and code of practice. I offer a warm, safe and friendly environment in which you can explore any issues, feelings and emotions that you may be struggling with. The sessions are client led and go at a pace to suit you so that you feel comfortable.
Counselling is a process which can be brief and time limited or open ended. This depends on the nature of the subject matter that you bring and the pace that you wish to go. I'm happy to discuss any questions or concerns that you have in an introductory telephone or video call prior to meeting, so that you can make an informed decision as to whether I am the right person to work with you.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) and have a Foundation Degree in Therapeutic Counselling (University of Gloucestershire) as well as a post qualifying Diploma in Counselling Children & Young People (CPCAB) achieved whilst working with TIC+ (Teens in Crisis). I have a Certificate in Counselling Skills and Child Psychology. I am also a Specialist Counsellor at TIC+ within the TIC+ Eating Difficulties Service (TEDS) and have specific training and experience of eating disorders through the National Centre for Eating Disorders (NCFED). I have also trained with South London & Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust and Brownhill Eating Disorder Team in Cheltenham. I am also a practitioner in Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) often known as Tapping. I have significant experience working with suicide ideation and prevention, safeguarding and self-harm. I undertake frequent continued professional development training which covers subject matters such as complex trauma, abuse, depression, anxiety, menopause.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
