About me

Are you feeling that you are not in control of your life, frustrated by thoughts going around in your mind ?

Are you fed up with waking up every morning with the feeling of dread, a churning in your stomach or a tightness in your chest?

Are you finding yourself feeling sad and crying more than usual?
Do you feel confused and often find yourself asking "what's wrong with me?"

Perhaps you are experiencing anxiety when you are faced with challenging situations and people, or you are feeling sad and depressed, finding these emotions difficult to live with. It can feel overwhelming when you are having to deal with all of these emotions on your own, which is where counselling can be useful, to help to support you through emotional and psychological distress.

I am a qualified person-centred therapeutic counsellor, who will work to support you to figure things out and to make sense of what you are experiencing. You will notice your self-esteem improve and your confidence gradually increase as we work together. The way I work is trauma-informed, which means that I am aware of how trauma can present itself and we can gradually work through your experiences of emotional distress and anxiety from past trauma, abuse, bereavement and grief, at your own pace.

You might not know how long you would like counselling for, and that's OK. I work with clients in an open-ended way, on a short, medium and long-term basis, depending on your needs. The frequency of appointments I offer are either weekly or fortnightly and we can explore this during your first appointment and review as we go.

One of the most important elements of counselling is the professional therapeutic relationship between counsellor and client. I offer a confidential space where we can work collaboratively and you will be listened to, heard, and not be judged.

In-person appointments are available in Norwich City Centre (NR2 1EE just off Pottergate).
Online appointments are also available for anyone living in the UK.

If you would like to have a chat with me about what you are looking for from counselling and how we might work together, please do send me an email and we can arrange a time that works for us both to have an introductory telephone call.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

My counselling practice is in a quiet part of Norwich City Centre where you can visit in-person, by appointment.

The room is set up to provide you with a comfortable space to take some time out for yourself, to look after your well-being and to figure out what's going on for you.

I also offer online counselling if you are unable to get to me or you would simply prefer to be in the comfort of your own home. It is important that during counselling sessions you have a private space where you are able to speak freely.

There may be times in your life when you feel that you need some extra support and a space to unload and unburden yourself.  That's where a professional counsellor comes in - supporting you through tough times.

There is no time like the present - If you feel like you are struggling to make sense of what's going on in your mind or in your life, then please get in touch.
