About me
I'm an experienced integrative counsellor and psychotherapist working in Monmouth and Abergavenny. I support adults, face-to-face and online.
Are you facing challenges related to anxiety, depression, grief, or trauma? Do you want to feel more in control of your life and feel less overwhelmed, gain deeper self-awareness around your behaviour patterns or relationship dynamics, or simply understand yourself better?
I provide a compassionate space where you can feel heard, understood, and accepted without judgment. Also, a supportive place for you to explore any thoughts, feelings, or experiences you'd like to share.
As a trauma-informed therapist with specific training in trauma and trauma-informed approaches, my focus is on empowering clients to grow and create meaningful change and therefore, create choice in their everyday lives. I use an integrative approach to therapy, drawing from a variety of theories and techniques to best suit your individual needs. These may include Person-Centred Therapy, Relational Psychodynamics, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Somatic Therapy.
I offer clients a free 15-minute introductory phone call. The purpose of this is so we can have an informal chat about what you're looking for and to see if we're a good fit to work together therapeutically.
Training, qualifications & experience
- I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
- Post Graduate Diploma in Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy (Level 7) - University of South Wales.
- Post Graduate Certificate in Counselling Skills - University of South Wales.
For several years, I worked with Mind Monmouthshire, the mental health charity in the role of Counselling Lead. I co-managed the counselling service, supported trainee counsellors, and continued to support clients myself. In addition, I have been part of the Wellbeing team as a Supported Self-Help Practitioner, delivering a six-week CBT-based programme to individual clients.
For the past five years, alongside my role at Mind, I have been working with Cyfannol Women's Aid on a project supporting survivors of historical sexual violence and abuse.
To deepen and enrich my practice, I have completed additional training in Transactional Analysis (TA), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), as well as in areas such as self-compassion, shame, and attachment.
To provide the highest quality support for my clients, I regularly engage in ongoing training, professional development, and keep up to date with current research.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
