About me

Hello and thank you for taking the time to look at my page.

You may not know exactly what you need or why you need it but by coming here you are already taking care of yourself.

Sometimes life is challenging in lots of different ways, and we can feel  overwhelmed. By taking this first step towards your recovery and reaching out, feeling better can start here.

Sometimes we can feel anxious and lonely in our lives and don't even know why.

Perhaps you have experienced a bereavement, feel lonely and isolated and can't see a way through your grief.

Maybe life is throwing you a curveball, something unexpected, like recognising you might have ADHD or ASD and now you are unsure how to manage this new information and what it may mean for you.

Perhaps you are just sad and don't know why.

Maybe you feel so stressed from your job it is affecting your family or partnership and these relationships are becoming unmanageable.

Perhaps your racing thoughts keep you awake at night and you would like more peace.

Has your age or stage of life turned out to be disappointing or much harder than you expected.

All of these situations (and too many more to name) can be very difficult to manage alone.

So, If any of these sound familiar or similar to your experience, you may notice that there are negative impacts in other areas of your life; like sleep, work and health. You may feel irritable and disconnected from your family and friends; your lack of energy and enthusiasm for life may have waned. Maybe you feel you are at a crossroads and can't make a  decision because you are stuck and you want to move forward.

If this is you please do get in touch, I can help you.

I can help you to:

Have a space to talk and share your thoughts and worries without fear of judgment or opinion.

Explore, understand and validate your feelings.

Gain understanding of what the underlying problem is, so that you can make confident decisions about your next steps.

Recognise how your behaviour may be affecting you and the people in your life, so you can make good choices and reconnect with them again.

Learn coping strategies so that you have tools you can use to feel calmer, happier and less stressed.

Explore your boundaries and stresses in your life so you can decide if you want to change them and feel more confident and self-assured.

Move forward positively in your life with an increased self-awareness about what you want to come next for you.

If I can help you, please contact me.

About me:

Hi, I'm Jen and I'm passionate about the benefits of counselling.

I have learnt through my personal experience of life's hurdles and my own use of counselling that I can take control of my situation and make good choices for myself. I have over 15 years experience of working with charities and have helped many individuals by supporting them through their challenging times.

My experience offers me an insight into your problems:

I know the importance of gaining understanding of why problems may exist and how to address these by building healthier communication.

I understand the impact of feelings of low self-worth, bruised confidence and low self esteem and how that might lead us to doubt ourselves and give up.

I have supported my clients to work through their feelings and responses, to make good decisions for themselves and their recovery.

I have helped my clients take an in-depth look at themselves, and recognise their own needs first and how they might meet them.

About counselling....

I will offer you a calm, non-judgemental approach where you can explore and make choices with confidence.

I will support you to discover your inner strength and resilience.

I will be alongside you as you discover about yourself and work through any issues that may be holding you back.

How we will work together....

We will establish a connection built on trust and respect. Therefore, it is important that you feel comfortable and relaxed with me.

I will offer you a quiet, neutral place to explore.  I will be alongside, encouraging you, as you lead the sessions at your own pace. As an Humanistic counsellor I will be with you as you discover about yourself from your own perspective and life experience.

Our sessions....

I am offering sessions in person in my private practice in Eastbourne town centre where I have a comfortable, cosy, therapy room.

I am offering online sessions via Google Meet or WhatsApp  and telephone sessions, therefore I can work with you in any location. .

We will plan to work together weekly at a mutually convenient time and day. I offer short term (6-12 weeks) and longer term therapy.

Next steps....

Please feel free to call me for an informal chat or text, WhatsApp or email me to arrange a 30 minute initial complementary consultation where you can tell me what brings you here. I look forward to hearing from you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
