About me

I am a Clinical Psychologist with over a decade of post-qualification experience, working in the NHS and in private practice. I offer 1:1 psychological therapy to adults, as well as post-diagnostic support for neurodivergent adults. I specialise in working with neurodivergence, and have lots of experience in tailoring therapy for this population.

I work integratively and offer sessions face to face in Petersfield, or online.

I work with people with all sorts of difficulties, including those listed below. Some people find it helpful to use a diagnosis or to label their difficulties; some do not. I will work with you to help you find the right way for you to express and understand your difficulties, and to translate this into a plan moving forwards.

I have a special interest in working with people struggling to cope with dysregulated emotions. This can often overlap with trauma, and with neurodiversity (e.g. ASD, ADHD, AuDHD). I work to help people unpick where they are getting stuck, and to develop alternative strategies to manage intense feelings. If desired, we can also explore underpinning issues.

Some of the difficulties I can help you with include:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
  • Phobias
  • Bipolar Disorder
  • PTSD
  • Complex PTSD
  • Trauma
  • Personality Disorder, BPD, EUPD
  • Self Harm
  • Autism
  • ADHD
  • Neurodivergence

Training, qualifications & experience

I’m an HCPC-registered Clinical Psychologist. Since qualifying, I have worked predominantly with adults within the NHS and privately.

Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) Registered Clinical Psychologist - number PYL31045

PsychD Clinical Psychology - University of Surrey

First Class BSc (Hons) in Psychology - University of Warwick

My HCPC registration requires me to regularly undertake additional training and learning. Some of the extra training I have undertaken has been around Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). ACT is a ‘third wave’ form of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) which helps you focus on your values and what you want to stand for as a person; we then use this to help you learn to make choices which help you move towards these values, whilst practising acceptance of difficult thoughts and feelings which may come up during the process.

I am EMDR-trained and can offer this online or remotely. EMDR is a specialist therapy designed to treat difficulties rooted in distressing or traumatic events; this is done by using bilateral stimulation (for example, via eye movements) to help the brain fully process these events.

I have also undertaken specialist training in an approach called Structured Clinical Management (SCM). SCM is an approach for people with complex needs and who may have a diagnosis of ‘Personality Disorder’; this approach involves structuring our work around the goals which you want to prioritise, and working in a very focused way on these.

HCPC
Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.

Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.

Additional information

I find that it is usually helpful in the first instance to have a phone call where we can talk about what you would hope to get from therapy, and we can decide together whether to proceed. These calls are for up to 15 minutes and are free of charge.

Further information

My experience has taught me that the relationship between therapist and client is the most important part of the therapeutic process, and I always strive to ensure that the work we do takes place in the context of a meaningful connection. I am always keen to hear from people how they have come to this point in their lives, what helps them to thrive, and what keeps them stuck. Through this process, we can reach a shared understanding of the situation and come up with a treatment plan together. I believe that the modern world often promotes a disconnect between our minds and our bodies, which is not a healthy way to live and can add to a sense of stuckness and disconnect. I seek to bring attention to mind, body, and emotions in my work, and to try and reintegrate these in order to generate a sense of wholeness.

Outside of work, I enjoy hill walking, baking, and musical theatre! My passions and interests help me connect and align with my body, mind, and feelings.
