About me
Hi, I’m Jane. I know that life can sometimes feel overwhelming, leaving you feeling a bit lost or 'stuck.' Taking the step to seek therapy is incredibly courageous, and I’m here to make that process feel as safe and natural as possible.
As a BACP-registered Person-Centred counsellor, I believe you are the expert on your own life. My role isn't to tell you what to do, but to provide a 'Green Oasis'—a quiet, non-judgmental space in Preston where you can finally catch your breath. Whether you're navigating anxiety, grief, or just a difficult life transition, we’ll work through it together at your pace.
I’ve traded a long career in the fast-paced retail world for the rewarding work of listening. I offer a down-to-earth, 'real person' approach in a therapy room designed to feel like home.
Training, qualifications & experience
I believe that to support you best, I must never stop learning. My approach is rooted in Person-Centred Counselling, a "talking therapy" that puts you at the heart of our work.
My academic and professional journey includes:
- Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
- MSc in Psychology
- BSc (Hons) in Applied Psychology
- BACP Registered Member (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy)
- Level 2 Certificate: Understanding Children and Young People’s Mental Health
I didn't start my career in a therapy room. I spent many years in the fast-paced world of retail before following my passion for mental health. This transition taught me first-hand how daunting life changes can be, and it allows me to bring a grounded, real-world perspective to our sessions. I continue to pursue specialist training regularly to ensure I can support every client with the most up-to-date knowledge.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
If you’re feeling a bit nervous about reaching out, that’s completely normal—taking that first step is often the hardest part!
To keep things simple, I usually start with a quick, no-pressure 10-minute phone call to say hello. From there, we can book a free 30-minute introductory session (either in person or online). This is just a chance for us to sit down, grab a cuppa, and see if we feel like a good "fit" before you commit to anything. If you decide you’d like to work together, I typically suggest an initial four-session commitment so we have the time to really start making progress.
I’ve designed my practice, Green Oasis, to be exactly what the name suggests—a calm, quiet sanctuary in a peaceful part of Preston. I know that even getting to an appointment can be stressful, so I’ve tried to remove the hurdles: there’s free driveway parking right outside, I’m less than 10 minutes from the M55/M6, and I’ll always offer a brew. Whether we meet in person or chat via WhatsApp, the space is entirely yours to talk through whatever is on your mind.
In terms of my "stats," I’m a BACP-registered counsellor with an MSc and BSc in Psychology. While I have a deep academic background, I’m definitely not a clinical or stuffy therapist. I spent years working in the busy world of retail before retraining, so I understand the "real world" juggle and how life’s big shifts can leave you needing a bit of extra support. I’m constantly learning new ways to help, but my main goal is always the same: providing a non-judgemental space where you can finally heal, grow, and start feeling like yourself again.
