About me

Hello, my name is Israh, and I am a qualified counsellor dedicated to supporting you on your journey of self-discovery. Together, we will examine both your past and present experiences to better understand the factors influencing you, creating a supportive environment where you can achieve your desired goals through open exploration.

I am an integrative counsellor, specialising in the integration of psychodynamic and humanistic approaches, with a particular emphasis on person-centred methods in my practice:

The psychodynamic approach enables us to investigate how past experiences influence your present feelings and behaviours, highlighting the unconscious thoughts that can affect your emotions and actions. This process seeks to bring these unconscious factors to light for careful examination and resolution.

The person-centred approach is grounded in the understanding that you are the foremost expert on yourself. This perspective empowers you to navigate your path to self-discovery and achieve your goals, as no one knows you better than you do. Our sessions will be led by you, putting you in control and enabling you to identify and overcome challenges while building your self-confidence. I will also help you understand the support and resources available to you as we work through your issues and explore possible options. My therapeutic space is characterized by empathy, unconditional positive regard, and congruence, which are part of the person-centred approach, fostering a safe environment for open dialogue.

My areas of specialization include anxiety, depression, and stress management. Additionally, I bring 11 years of experience as a GP practice receptionist, which has further strengthened my patient care skills and reinforced essential therapeutic principles, such as the core conditions.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and I have acquired my experience through The Awareness Centre’s low-cost counselling service and their NHS counselling service in collaboration with Sutton Uplift. This experience has been invaluable in enhancing my ability to work closely with clients from diverse backgrounds and varying circumstances, addressing both long-term and short-term counselling needs.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
