About me
I am a fully qualified Counsellor who works to professional BACP-recognised standards.
I worked in the creative industries for serval years in Journalism and music before a major departure into local government where I served for 23 years. I helped to transform services with several different Unitary Authorities predominantly in adult and community services before moving into education.
I retrained as a Counsellor in 2019 and gained greater and in-depth insights into human behaviour. I became more self-aware and began to understand the science behind people’s behaviours and origins of their challenges. I was able to integrate these into my work in education but equally, I found I was achieving good outcomes working for a nationally recognised charity working with people who had experienced bereavement and loss, trauma and common as well as more complex mental health challenges.
Counselling and Psychotherapy takes clients through a process of introspection and in my experience has a high degree of success. I have witnessed positive outcomes for individuals of all ages and lives have been transformed.
My private practice is a newly established practice in a conveniently located and accessible therapy space, in Cheshire West. Enquiries are via email or Phone. I offer Humanistic therapy but integrate aspects of alternative theory. I specialise in working with individuals who are living with trauma and loss but have significant experience working with adults with Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC).

BACP
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
Sessions are 50 Minutes long and payment must be made 24 hours in advance of the session. Sessions can be face-to-face, remote (with or without video) or over the phone.
I can help with a variety of presenting issues and have experience and success with clients working with clients of all ages and backgrounds with common mental health problems through to more complex circumstances.
I currently have availability in the daytime but also out of hours in the evening and at the weekend, ring or email for times. I can offer a short number of sessions including single sessions and or fortnightly or monthly to suit.
Often, I find the flexibility of space between sessions enables clients to process our work, gain confidence to act on thoughts and feelings but retain the safety net of contact when needed and the budget allows. Typically, I have worked with clients for 6 up to 22 sessions.
