About me

Hi, my name is Helen and I'm a qualified and accredited integrative counsellor, with extensive experience offering one-to-one sessions with adult clients. I provide a safe, non-judgmental environment where clients can feel listened to and actually heard as they explore their issues and concerns. Having delivered over 1000 hours of therapeutic counselling sessions, I'm experienced in working with clients to explore and manage a wide range of issues, from anxiety and stress to bereavement, trauma and confidence building. I've seen first-hand how having a safe and confidential space to explore feelings and concerns allows people to make sense of their situations and achieve more self-understanding and knowledge.

My person-centred approach to counselling integrates aspects of psychotherapy from the humanistic, psychodynamic and behaviourist disciplines. This means I work in a client-led manner that is fluid and the focus in the sessions can move between the past, present and future depending on the needs of each individual. All of my therapeutic work is underpinned by the individual needs of the client, using methods adapted to support clients on their personal therapeutic journey. It takes courage to seek out a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change. I am here to support and empower you in that journey.

BACP

The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
