About me

Hello, I’m Hannah Wood, a qualified and registered counsellor with eight years of experience. I am deeply committed to my profession and offer counselling sessions via telephone or online platforms. I provide a secure environment where individuals can be heard, acknowledged, and validated. A space for reflection and exploration of any matters they wish to discuss during our sessions. Therapy can assist you in identifying personal blind spots and gaining a deeper understanding of your emotions. My primary objective is to ensure that you feel supported and valued throughout our time together.

If you believe that I might be the suitable therapist for you, please feel free to reach out via email or telephone.

I offer a complimentary 20 minute introductory telephone or video call. During this time, we can discuss the areas you wish to address in therapy and provide you with an opportunity to determine if I am the suitable therapist for you. Please note that this is not a therapy session but rather an informal conversation designed to help you gauge your comfort level with me and decide if you would like to proceed with therapy. There is no obligation or expectation, as I place great importance on establishing a strong therapeutic relationship.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified therapist registered with BACP and possess a full DBS check.

My professional experience includes work within a local NHS mental health service, a prominent mental health charity, a domestic abuse service, a child and family service, as well as private practice.

I have experience in addressing a broad spectrum of presenting issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, PTSD, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, and bereavement. My work continues to encompass these areas.

I am currently pursuing a Master's degree in Trauma Informed Practice (Year 2) and undergoing training in Understanding Autism (Level 3). My goal is to continually expand my knowledge and understanding, enabling me to provide the highest quality support to those who choose to work with me. I possess a strong passion for learning and assisting individuals in building empowerment and self-esteem. Together, we can explore interventions and tools that you can utilize to support your own healing journey.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
