About me

I’m a BACP-accredited counsellor and psychotherapist offering online therapy across the UK, with a particular focus on police officers, emergency service workers, the armed forces and veterans.

I know that people in these roles often carry things they can’t easily talk about at work or at home. That includes trauma, cumulative stress, sleep problems, anger, low mood, drinking more than they’d like, or simply feeling “not themselves”. I currently work with police personnel through an employee assistance agency, so I understand the culture, the pressures, and the worries about confidentiality. My private practice is completely independent of any employer, and what you tell me stays between us within the usual professional limits.

I qualified in 2003 and have worked in the NHS and in private practice. My core approach is pluralistic. That means we work together to identify what will help you, drawing on my original psychodynamic training and other approaches as needed. I’m also trained in EMDR (standard training, EMDR Europe-accredited, completed October 2026). EMDR can be a very effective and often relatively quick therapy for trauma and distressing memories. Some clients notice real relief early on, occasionally within a single session, though everyone is different.

Sessions take place online via Zoom, Teams, or WhatsApp video, and I can offer shift-friendly times. I offer a free 15-minute introductory call so you can get a feel for whether we’re a good fit, with no obligation.

The best way to reach me is by message through this profile or by WhatsApp. I reply within one working day.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
