About me

I am a psychodynamic counsellor. I hold an Advanced Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling and I am a member of the BACP. I work with people, 18 and above, with issues ranging from depression/anxiety to those with more complex needs. I work face to face as well as online/telephone.

What I offer

Life can get tricky sometimes and there are times when we all need a little support. Whether it’s a one-off issue or something more complicated, we all need space to consider what’s really going on. Whether that’s everyday life getting you down and feeling stuck, feelings of anxiety or overwhelm, putting on a ‘brave face’ for those around you, to longer term, complex issues, negative emotions or thoughts.

Counselling provides the opportunity for you to be listened to and to be seen and heard. It provides a space for you to reflect upon/explore your feelings in a safe, comfortable, confidential space without judgement or bias. We do this in your own way and at your own pace – there is no right or wrong way.

The relationship you have with your counsellor is unique, and I aim to provide a safe, empathic and non-judgemental environment where together we can explore and reflect on your lifetime of lived experiences. We will think about how these experiences present themselves in your life and their impact, in order to gain some understanding of where you are today.

At our first session we will explore what has brought you to counselling and to think about how best to proceed, whether that is short term/time limited or open-ended sessions, as well as consider where you would like to get to in counselling.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
