About me

Hi I am Emma Good to meet you!

Thank you for clicking on me and viewing my profile, now I have the chance to explain to you what I offer-

Counselling style

Firstly, I believe that the Client / Counsellor relationship is key to successful outcomes. Therefore, every client I have the pleasure to meet I will not push you into continuing on your journey with me.

Originally, I was trained in the Humanistic modality therefore I believe that as my client, my role is to support you fundamentally. offer Empathy, Congurence and unconditional positive regard. I invite you to bring whatever concerns or issues you want to and we can explore them together, leaving you fully in control of your sessions. I also provide active involvement in each session. I listen intently and give constructive input when necessary.

What I do

Whatever your problem large or small, it's a big deal. However, in today's climate people do not necessarily want to spend hours upon hours discussing their Anxiety, Trauma or depression. Instead they want a faster and lasting fix. This is where EMDR is the perfect integration. The results are 100% positive. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitising and Reprocessing) is an excellent proven intervention for Trauma, Anxiety, Depression, Self worth, Self esteem and improves the management of any secondary mental health issues.

Experience

I have 12 years experience of working within private practice and within the the NHS providing Trauma therapy for Paramedics and Ambulance staff) and staff and Cancer patient's in hospitals. In the past and presently, I have worked with a number of difficulties such as Anxiety and Stress, Depression, Relationship issues, Abuse and Cancer care. I have also worked for and supported Charity run organisations for the elderly and less advantaged persons. I have a valid DBS certificate.

I also have experience in working with Secondary mental health diagnoses, such as Psychosis, Severe and chronic depression and Suicidal thoughts, Bipolar 1 and 2 , Anorexia nervosa, Borderline personality disorder. I have extensive knowledge of Attention deficient hyperactive disorder. (ADHD) both inatentive and hyperactive and combined and  With Autism, I amexperienced in working with all ranges of the continuum line.

I can support you in accepting a new diagnosis or one that you've had for a long time- You are not your diagnosis!

Me

I am originally from London and have also lived abroad for a number of years. During the time I spent away, I was able to gain more insight to the diversity and uniqueness of different cultures, religions and backgrounds. Upon return and after living by the sea, I moved to Chichester, where I fulfilled my dream to pursue a career in counselling, it was something I had always wanted to do-help others. I've never looked back and love my work so much!

Just give me a text or email. I offer Zoom counselling too, which is sometimes easier than travelling to a counsellor.

Thank you for viewing my profile. I hope to hear from you soon!

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
