About me
I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BA, MA, MBACP) with 5 years training & experience. I believe in everyone's capacity to grow towards a life that is fulfilling and joyful.
Therapy is a journey that can transform your core beliefs about yourself and open up new possibilities. I know this because I have lived that experience. I've faced my own mental health struggles and found freedom through therapy, and I'm here to help you do the same.
There is another way, and I'm here to help you find it.
More about Eleanor George Counselling:
Are you feeling lost, hopeless or anxious? Are you feeling stuck and lacking purpose?
I know it can sometimes feel like things will never get better, like it's all too much. I can tell you that it does get better. Sometimes we just need someone to walk alongside us and help us make sense of the noise in our heads. My head was once an extremely crowded place and that inner voice was relentlessly horrible to me. Now I have the space and freedom to live better, something I didn't think was possible for me.
Counselling can help us to understand why we are the way we are and why we behave in ways that don't feel good. I can be the person to support you to achieve a life you deserve.
Together, we can help you overcome what's holding you back. We all deserve to live fully, laugh easily, and handle life's challenges with ease, and our past experiences and traumas shape how we see ourselves and the world. In the safety of the counselling relationship, we can explore and let go of limiting beliefs.

Training, qualifications & experience
I am a registered member of the BACP (BA, MA, MBACP) with 5 years training and experience.
I operate within the following therapeutic approaches:
Person-Centred Theory is fundamental in my client work for creating a feeling of safety by extending empathy, positive regard and congruence. I use PCT to build a therapeutic relationship that allows for deep work.
CBT offers clients with anxiety, depression and OCD useful means of creating short-term relief as well as long term coping strategies. CBT is not for everyone and I prioritise building a relationship and understanding your inner world to work together on helping you move forwards.
EFT offers my clients a way to short circuit the brain-body cycle of fear by focusing on calming physical symptoms of anxiety. There are many emotional freedom techniques that can help people to set themselves free from stuckness.
Polyvagal Theory informs my understanding of the physical processes related to anxiety, the body and the nervous system. Breathing exercises and EFT are useful ways I work with this. Sometimes we need to get out of fight or flight as a main priority before anything else.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
