About me

I am a child and adolescent therapist and counsellor who supports children and young people aged 8 -25 (and some adults) to manage big feelings, stressful situations and other life challenges.

I work primarily through creative arts and play therapy but also through talking therapy, TraumaPlay and more.  If you are looking for a clinical supervisor, I supervise trainees and qualified professionals in various fields.

I support children and young people who are neurotypical and neuro-divergent and also with PANDAS or other medical diagnoses.  My studio is a safe space, and everyone is welcome.

My therapy dog, Orca, works in my studio too, if clients want her there, supporting them with animal-assisted therapy (AAT).

I support children and young people with a wide range of worries, concerns and problems, from anxiety, behavioural concerns, PTSD, bereavement and trauma to physical and sexual abuse.

If you are wondering if therapy can support your child or teen, the answer is generally 'Yes!' but please feel free to get in contact for a commitment-free chat.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified child therapist and counsellor who started working in clinical practice in 2018.  As well as supporting children and young people, I support their families and other key adults too.

Before that I was a primary, secondary and special needs teacher and I have over thirty years of experience working with children and their families.

I am a clinical supervisor,  supporting therapists and other professionals with their work and I also am a trainer, running courses for parents and professionals.

I am currently completing a PhD in Clinical Practice at Exeter University.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

PTUK
Play Therapy UK (PTUK)

Play Therapy UK is the largest organisation governing therapeutic play and play therapy in the United Kingdom. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Wheelchair user access
Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.

From a car, it is a short walk to my studio across a gravel drive and up a step into the Studio. If you can manage that with a wheelchair, you are very welcome. I have no ramp, and although I have a toilet, it is not disabled toilet compliant.
