About me

Hello, I'm Eileen. I'm a Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society (BPS), hold a PhD in Psychology, and am an accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT) with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP).

Over the past 20 years, I have worked across psychology, mental health, wellbeing, research and education. Alongside my clinical work, I am a Lecturer and an active researcher, with publications in areas including mental health, trauma-informed practice, suicide, self-harm, dementia, women's health and caring experiences.

Life doesn't always unfold as we expect. Sometimes difficulties arise following a significant life event, while at other times stress, worry or low mood can gradually build until we realise we're no longer coping as well as we once were. Whatever has brought you to therapy, taking the step to seek support is important.

I work with people experiencing a range of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, stress, health anxiety, low self-confidence, self-criticism, suicidal thoughts, emotional distress and the impact of difficult or traumatic life experiences. My approach is collaborative and grounded in evidence-based practice, while recognising that each person's experiences, strengths and circumstances are unique.

I am particularly interested in helping people understand the patterns that may be keeping them stuck and in translating psychological knowledge to support meaningful and lasting change. Together, we can develop a shared understanding of your difficulties and identify approaches that help you move towards the life you want to live.

Above all, I aim to provide a compassionate, thoughtful and non-judgemental therapeutic space where you feel supported to explore what is happening and work towards your goals.
