About me

Are you finding yourself more anxious, more angry with others or yourself? Are you feeling increasingly depressed, and feeling disconnected from those close to you, and can't understand why you accept how you feel treated in relationships or with family?
Often recent circumstances are a large part of this, but also the underlying foundational cause often lies in the early unmet needs you didn't get in early life attachment, with our parents, relationships or other caregivers. This can create trauma, which I specialise in, with its manifestation of anxiety, self harm, dissociation, fixations ( eg overwork), and addictions of all kinds. I also work with PTSD, for the bigger traumas in life. I work with individuals and with couples (EFT).

I use a mind/body approach.  Helping gently reconnect with the parts of yourself that may have been forgotten along the way.
I help with dysregulation, meaning that the trauma is stored in the body. I work somatically, working with perhaps the  tension or pain or emptiness. One must "feel it to heal it". I use a somatic body based approach, and work with the parts we have developed as defence mechanisms, but which now reinforce unhelpful patterns of behaving, thinking and responding emotionally.

Areas of counselling I deal with

Other areas of counselling I deal with

I work with children, and I have 12 years experience as the lead counsellor in a Primary School in Camberwell SE5.

I use Place therapy - having studied at Place2Be, including use of art and crafts, and games.

I create a safe, secure base for a child to open up and be able to reveal the deeper emotions, often attachment related, however it seems to be manifesting in behaviour.

I use an integrative approach,  and often involve parents, with support and understanding for connecting with the attachment needs, if needed.

I love spending time with my children, and we go away, usually to Ireland at least once a year.

I enjoy advancing my understanding and skill as a therapist, often reading and listen to podcasts and YouTube.
