About me
My name is Clarissa, and I am a qualified therapist and have been supporting people with a wide range of mental health needs since 2020. I specialise in ADHD, Autism, and Neurodiversity, working with both adults and young people. My therapeutic approach is integrative, which means I draw on different models of therapy to tailor treatment to you. I specialise in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and have trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Functional Analytic Psychotherapy (FAP). I also draw on Compassion Focused and Schema interventions in my work.
I believe that you are the expert in your own life. My role is to provide the tools, techniques, and safe space you need to explore your experiences, build self-understanding, and create lasting change.
My passion for supporting neurodivergent individuals began quite sometime ago when I was first training to become a psychotherapist. Through my practice and my company, The Cognitive Collective Ltd, I am committed to making therapy and mental health care more accessible, inclusive, and empowering for everyone.
In sessions, I work collaboratively and creatively, tailoring therapy to each individual. My style is warm, relaxed, and non-judgemental, with the goal of helping you feel comfortable and understood. It's my job to meet you half way. Together, we will explore not only what brings you to therapy, but also the patterns, beliefs, and experiences that may be holding you back.
Whether you are seeking support for ADHD, Autism, anxiety, low self-esteem, stress, or life transitions, I will work with you to help you feel empowered, resilient, and more in control of your mental health.
I welcome clients in-person in Cheltenham and the surrounding Cotswolds, as well as those looking for online therapy across the UK.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have been a psychotherapist for 5 years and have been working and training in mental health since 2016 when I began my undergraduate degree in Psychology. I have since studied counselling and obtained a Master’s degree in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and have trained in other modalities of therapy such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Functional Analytic Psychotherapy (FAP), and mindfulness-based interventions, with a focus on supporting neurodiverse clients, including those with ADHD and Autism. I am a member of the BABCP, a registered member of the BACP (MBACP) and accredited by the NCPS.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society This Not For Profit association of counsellors and psychotherapists aim to support the counselling profession, members and training organisations. In 2013 the NCS register was accredited by the Professional Standards Authority under the Accredited Voluntary Register Scheme. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
