About me
There are times in life when it feels as though everyone else comes first.
You may have spent so much time caring for others, meeting expectations, or putting your own needs to one side that somewhere along the way you have lost sight of yourself. You may find yourself questioning who you are, struggling with confidence or self-esteem, finding it difficult to set boundaries, or wondering what you actually want from your own life.
Counselling can give you the space to stop and focus on you.
I offer a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly about what is happening for you. Together, we can explore your experiences and how they may have shaped the way you see yourself, while beginning to recognise beliefs, thoughts and patterns that may no longer be helping you.
I work in an integrative way, which simply means I can draw on different ways of working depending on what you need. At the heart of my approach is the belief that you know yourself and your life better than anyone else. I won't tell you what you should do or push you in a direction that doesn't feel right for you.
Sometimes you may simply need the space to be heard and understood. At other times, you may want help making sense of why you feel or respond in a particular way, or you may feel ready to look at something differently and try another approach. We can decide together what feels helpful, always working at a pace that feels manageable for you.
I have experience supporting people with anxiety, depression, bereavement, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties and significant life changes. I have also worked with people affected by cancer, those who have a caring role, and people who have experienced domestic abuse.
I value difference and diversity and have experience working with people from a range of backgrounds, identities and life experiences. I aim to offer a space where you can feel accepted and able to be yourself.
My aim is not to tell you who you should be or what choices you should make. It is to help you understand yourself more fully, develop confidence in your own decisions, and begin letting go of things that no longer serve you.
It is never too late to rediscover who you are and make choices that feel right for you.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a qualified counsellor and Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I completed my Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling at West Thames College in 2020.
My counselling experience includes several years working with The Mulberry Centre at West Middlesex University Hospital, supporting people affected by cancer, including patients, carers, and those experiencing bereavement and end-of-life circumstances.
I currently work in private practice with adults experiencing a range of emotional and life difficulties. My approach is integrative, drawing primarily on Person-Centred Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
I am committed to working ethically and safely, and undertake regular clinical supervision and continuing professional development.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
