About me

Hello, my name is Charlotte and I am a qualified Counsellor and a registered member of the BACP. I work with all adults 16 years+, and practice at my own Wellbeing centre - 'Glow Holistic Wellbeing’, based in Pocklington. I also offer online Zoom sessions for those who may prefer that option.

Whatever your reasons for turning to counselling, from a loss, low mood, or relationship struggles, to panic attacks, difficult emotions or low self-esteem I can be sure to offer a safe and supportive space to explore these issues together, free from judgement or outside influences.

How I work:

I am a Humanistic Integrative Counsellor, meaning I offer a wide range of approaches, theories and concepts, according to the individual and their personal needs.

I believe that each and every one of us is unique and different in this world. A lifetime of personal experiences have shaped us all into the people we are today, and therefore implementing a 'one size fits all' approach in the therapy room seems impossible. With this in mind, I will always work in a way that is tailored to you, and your individual needs.

Counselling/Therapy is regularly referred to as 'talking therapy'. Talking, and feeling truly heard, is so powerful within a strong therapeutic relationship and should never be underestimated. However, I truly believe that there are huge benefits in using creativity to improve our mental wellbeing and I am able to offer this within my therapy sessions. Often talking can feel too difficult for many people, which is where creative techniques can be extremely useful and can often act as a gateway to accessing and/or expressing peoples thoughts, feelings and experiences, in a way that feels safe to them.

I offer a free initial consultation via Zoom which can last up to 45 minutes- this will give us a chance to explore what you would like to achieve in Counselling and how we might work together. Most importantly, it can give you an opportunity to see how comfortable you feel during our time talking, as I believe feeling at ease with your Counsellor is crucial in developing a strong therapeutic relationship.

Following this, I will provide hourly sessions, either via Zoom or face to face. I welcome all clients, aged 16 years and over, from all walks of life.

I look forward to meeting you and getting to know you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
