About me
Have you recently had an unexpected diagnosis, a breakup, bereavement or a big change in your life? Do you feel like life has thrown you a curve ball and left you feeling lost, stressed or anxious about how you’re going to manage or even what to do now? If this sounds like you then know that you are not alone. That it is possible to learn to adapt to change, find new happiness and to grow through it.
Change doesn’t need to be something to just endure, it doesn’t have to leave us feeling stuck, hopeless or broken. When approached in the right way, it can lead us to uncover new abilities, perspectives and values. Transforming us in extraordinary ways.
Whether you’re processing a past change, grappling with a present one, or bracing for a future one, together we can come to understand what you are experiencing now and discover who you can become on the other side of change.
I specialise in supporting people who are struggling with change in their life, from new or unexpected diagnosis, moving to a new life stage such as the kids moving out or retirement, bereavement and other loses or when good changes – such as marriage or having children – don’t feel quite the way you thought they would. During these times it can help to have a space where you can talk openly and reflect on what these changes mean for you. I provide a warm, thoughtful and non-judgemental space where we can explore what is happening for you now, deepen your understanding of yourself and develop new ways of coping and routines that better suit who you want to become.
My role is to listen, support and collaborate with you – drawing on different therapeutic approaches to work with you in the way most suitable to your needs, preferences and goals. This means we may:
· Explore how your thoughts, feelings and behaviours interact (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy)
· Work in the present, offering empathy, genuineness and unconditional positive regard to build self-worth and self-awareness (Person-Centred)
· Gently understand how past experiences and relationships have shaped your patterns and responses (Psychodynamic)
· Develop your self-awareness of current feelings and behaviours to understand and resolve unresolved feelings (Gestalt)
If you are looking to be heard, to better know yourself and to make the most of the changes in your life, then please do not hesitate to contact me.
Training, qualifications & experience
I'm a fully qualified counsellor who works supporting those experiencing big life changes and young adults. My training included Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. Psychodynamic, Person-Centred and Gestalt ways of working, so that I can find an appropriate way of working with everyone.
As well as working for myself where I help local young adults in overcoming the confusion and pressure that comes with graduating or leaving school, I have also worked with Nightingale Placement and Therapy in Sudbury for two years. Helping people to manage their anxieties around life and big changes they’ve had, cope with relationship struggles and to come to understand the patterns in their relationships and to manage difficult bereavements.
