Catriona Cahill BSc. MA, MBACP Reg. UKCP Counselling, Psychotherapy, Supervision
We all go through difficult times in our lives and experience stressful transitions, traumatic events and significant turning points. During such times, many people find it helpful to turn to a counsellor for support.
Counselling offers a supportive space, unique in that it is free from the agendas and expectations of others which are normal in most social situations.
In the safety of that space we can, together, explore current situations, look forward to the future and process past experiences.
I work in a holistic way which honours body, mind and spirit, giving attention to thoughts and feelings mainly through dialogue. We may also engage with dreams and other creative processes and techniques that help you access your own experience more fully.
Through both support and appropriate challenge, experiential exploration and shared reflection, counselling often opens the way towards easing suffering, (re)discovering the truth of who we are and how we want to live. It can lead us towards a more meaningful experience of life.
Training, qualifications & experience
I qualified as a Psychodynamic Counsellor in 2007 having trained for five years at the University of Leicester and went on to gain an MA in 2009. In 2015 I completed a three year Post-Diploma training in Integrative Psychosynthesis Psychotherapy at Re-Vision Centre for Integrative Psychosynthesis in London. Having continued my studies at Re-Vision I have now gained a Certificate in Supervision.
In addition to my private practice, I have experience of counselling in the Psychotherapy Department of an NHS hospital and in various charitable organisations including many years with Milton Keynes Sexual Assault Support Service.
I work as a Supervisor, both with individuals and groups.
