About me

I’m Cathy, an experienced therapist and counselling lecturer based in Westbury, Wiltshire. With over 15 years of practice and many years teaching and supervising trainee counsellors, I bring a depth of knowledge and a grounded, down‑to‑earth approach to the people I work with. I offer both in‑person and online sessions for adults and young people who want a supportive space to talk and feel understood.

If you’re finding things difficult — perhaps feeling anxious, low, overwhelmed, or unsure where to turn — you’re not alone. Many people reach out when life feels heavier than usual, and my role is to offer a warm, understanding space where you can slow down, breathe, and explore what’s happening with compassion and clarity.

In our work together, I take time to really listen, to understand what life feels like from your perspective, and to help you gently make sense of your emotions and experiences. Many clients tell me they feel safe, supported, and appreciate my down-to-earth nature and that being met with warmth and honesty helps them find their footing again.

If you’re wondering whether therapy might help, you’re welcome to book a free 15‑minute consultation. It’s a simple, pressure‑free way for us to talk about what you’re hoping for and see whether working together feels right for you.

When you feel ready, please get in touch — I’m here to support you.

I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and follow their code of ethics.

Since 2010, I have worked with people with a wide range of issues such as depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, addictive behaviours, bereavement and questions around identity, purpose and direction.

With personal and professional experience in the transformative power of counselling, I am committed to inclusivity and have a deep understanding of neurodiversity, SEND parenting and childhood trauma.  I welcome clients from all backgrounds, ages, and circumstances, providing a warm, secure, and empathic space to explore your feelings and responses to relationships, life events, and the world.

I'm also a lecturer in counselling at a local college, and a clinical supervisor.

I attend regular supervision in accordance with BACP guidelines to ensure safe practice, and have professional indemnity insurance. I hold an Enhanced DBS certificate.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
