About me

I am a qualified humanistic counsellor, and currently training in Transactional Analysis.

My belief in people and our innate ability to grow despite adversity is one of the reasons I came into counselling after working in the criminal justice sector for over 10 years.

My aim with clients is to meet you where you are currently in life. To explore areas where you may feel stuck or be struggling. I enjoy using psychoeducation in the counselling room to encourage you to reflect and recognise any patterns that you may need to break away from. We will agree on what it is you are ready to address, and work at your pace to create solutions that are specific for you. As we go we will collaboratively review what is working and what could improve.

Counselling is a journey that we enter in together in our therapeutic relationship, and I look forward to meeting you when you are ready to take the first step.

Training, qualifications & experience

I completed three years training at the University of Nottingham and obtained a BA (Hons) in Humanistic Counselling Practice. I use an overall humanistic approach in my practice, leaning towards a person-centred modality. For the past few years I have been, and still am, training in Transactional Analysis and I have adapted my practice to incorporate this more. Transactional Analysis allows another way of understanding some of the things that have brought you into counselling and an alternative way to explore it.

I have had training in grief and loss, neurodiversity and several other counselling areas. In recent years I have worked as a counsellor within a secondary and sixth form school setting.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
