About me

Hello. I am a registered BACP counsellor offering a warm, welcoming space in which to build a relationship of trust and safety with my clients which I believe to be the foundation of our work together. I run my therapy practice from a quiet and relaxed room in Botley, West Oxford.

Sometimes life can feel difficult, painful or overwhelming without really knowing what is wrong or being able to put a name to it. You might sense that some patterns of thought or behaviour are getting in your way, leaving you feeling confused, stuck, anxious or depressed. There may be a painful or traumatic life event you would like to address and are seeking support with.

How can I help you?

I offer a space for you to begin to think about yourself, your life and the issues that might be affecting you, and to be heard and listened to attentively. Together we can hope to shed light on the root of a difficulty, exploring what might be happening including how current issues may be related to your past experiences.

In time, this can help you to understand yourself more deeply, to make sense of confusing feelings and behaviours better, providing an opportunity to think about change.

Areas I work with

I offer therapeutic counselling, working with a wide range of issues including (but not limited to):

  • Feeling stuck or ‘lost’
  • Searching for purpose, meaning and enjoyment in life
  • Relationship issues and understanding patterns in your relationships better.
  • Family conflict
  • Living with and working through grief and loss
  • Low self esteem or feeling ‘not good enough’
  • Depression and anxiety
  • Life changes, including menopause
  • Living with neurodiversity
  • Health related issues
  • Work related issues

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a psychotherapeutic counsellor having completed a rigorous clinical training over four years at the University of Oxford.

  • MSt in Psychodynamic Practice
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Psychodynamic Practice

I have professional insurance and am a registered member of and work in accordance with the ethical guidelines of the BACP.

My practice is founded on creating a safe space and building trust with my clients enabling each person to bring the issues they need to to each session.

I am committed to the best practice for each of my clients and continuing my professional development (CPD).  I attend regular supervision which is not only a requirement but is essential for good professional practice.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
