About me

I am a therapist working remotely via Skype and WhatsApp (10:00-19:00 Mon-Fri). I have through my own experiences with OCD from a young age decided to focus my work on this area of life. I feel passionately about helping other OCD sufferers to find ways to manage their condition, to enable them to reclaim their life and start focusing on their goals.

OCD can take many different forms, such as cleaning or checking issues, a need for symmetry and organisation, magical thinking (imagining that we can affect situations by performing certain acts or thinking certain thoughts), other intrusive thoughts or Pure O (any distressing or uncomfortable thoughts/images/feelings which we feel the need to fix, argue with, push away etc). Common themes for these are harm, fear of being a paedophile, relationships, sexuality, morality, religion; although there are many more as OCD can attach itself to absolutely anything in life.

I can work with you using Exposure and Response Prevention exercises to help you, at your own pace, to gradually begin to manage your OCD, allowing you to get your life back.

As well as specialising in OCD therapy, I offer general counselling for anxiety, depression and other life issues.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a Level 4 Diploma in Integrative Therapeutic Counselling (Person-Centred/CBT/Transactional Analysis), an Introduction to CBT Certificate and a Diploma in OCD Studies.

I spent five years supporting the UK charity OCD Action as a helpline volunteer.

My therapeutic experience has been gained with The OCD Treatment Centre, in primary and secondary school work for the charity Place2Be, Brentwood Mind and Dove Counselling (bereavement counselling). I have been working with clients with OCD in my own private practice since December 2019.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
