About me
My name's Ben, and I'm an Integrative Psychotherapist & Lecturer. Sometimes in life, things get on top of us, and we can feel alone and like we've nowhere to turn. In times like this, I'm here to provide you with a safe, compassionate, and confidential space to discover how you can move forward in life, better understand yourself, and how we can work together to help you achieve your goals.
As a therapist, I work with a broad range of challenges facing people, such as depression, anxiety, grief, and relationship issues. I meet my clients wherever they find themselves in life, getting to know all about you and your challenges, to build a relationship where you can feel heard, empowered and connected.
Whilst some therapists force their clients to fit a particular type of therapy, as an Integrative Therapist, I draw on a wide range of approaches to ensure that your therapy is tailored to you as an individual, helping you feel in control and understood.
Reaching out for therapy can be a big step that feels daunting. To help this process, I offer a free 30-minute consultation, either in person at my office or over the phone, so we can get to know each other and help you discover a way forward.
Training, qualifications & experience
I possess two Master's Degrees, one in Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy, and another in Health Psychology. I also hold an undergraduate degree in Human Psychology. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP).
I have worked across a number of settings, including private practice, community outreach, and residential mental health settings. I consider myself fortunate to have worked with so many people, from so many walks of life.
In addition to my private practice, I am also a Lecturer at Derby University, where I lecture trainee therapists on the University's undergraduate degree programme.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
My office is easily accessible and in the heart of Derby. Spacious and relaxing, it's comfortable all year round, and has air-conditioning for those particularly hot days. On-site parking makes the office extremely easy to access, and there is a calm and quiet waiting area should you arrive a little early.
If you would prefer to meet virtually as opposed to in-person, I offer a secure online platform favoured by healthcare professionals, which is totally confidential and encrypted, meaning there will be no record of our time together in your computer or phones log.
For those of you who prefer something a little more organic, I am happy to explore 'walk-and-talk' therapy on an individual and applicable basis. This is great for those of you who would prefer to take a stroll through the park whilst talking, and breathe in some fresh air.
If you have any particular requirements requiring accessing therapy or specific ways of working, please feel free to contact me via either e-mail or telephone.
