About me
Welcome, your journey towards calm begins here
Feeling anxious, overwhelmed, low in confidence, or emotionally stuck?
I’m Aniqa Afzal, founder of Sakina Space – Counselling & CBT Services. I offer a calm, compassionate and non-judgemental space for adults experiencing anxiety, low mood, stress, burnout, low self-esteem, workplace difficulties, relationship challenges or life transitions. At Sakina Space we offer you time to pause, reflect and begin making sense of what you are going through. I utilise current evidence based CBT approaches to support you moving towards greater clarity, confidence and emotional wellbeing at a pace that feels just right for you.
Why choose Sakina Space?
A calm and supportive space
Sakina Space offers a tranquil, respectful and confidential environment where you can feel heard, understood and supported.
A compassionate approach
I understand that reaching out for therapy can feel like a big step. My approach is warm, collaborative and non-judgemental, allowing you to explore your thoughts and feelings safely and at your own pace.
CBT-informed support
I draw on up to date counselling and CBT-informed approaches to help you understand the links between your thoughts, feelings, behaviours and physical responses. This can be particularly helpful if you feel caught in cycles of worry, avoidance, self-criticism, low mood or people-pleasing.
Practical and reflective therapy
Some clients want practical tools and strategies. Others need space to talk, process and reflect. I adapt sessions to your unique needs, combining reflection with practical steps towards change.
Experience in healthcare
Alongside my therapy training, I have many years of experience working in healthcare and supporting people during difficult and vulnerable periods in their lives. This has shaped the values I bring into therapy: compassion, respect, integrity and person-centred care.
Areas I can support with:
- Anxiety and excessive worry
- Low mood and depression
- Stress and burnout
- Low self-esteem and confidence difficulties
- People-pleasing and boundary setting
- Workplace stress and professional overwhelm
- Relationship difficulties
- Life transitions and adjustment
- Emotional overwhelm
- Personal growth and self-understanding
Take the first step
You do not need to have everything worked out before starting therapy. You may have a clear issue you want to focus on, or you may simply know that something does not feel right. Both are welcome.
If you are looking for a peaceful, compassionate space to begin exploring what is happening for you, I would be delighted to hear from you.
Training, qualifications & experience

- BACP Membership
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
