About me
Deciding to begin therapy can feel like a big step, and finding the right counsellor is an important part of that journey. I'm Aneesa Ahmed, a qualified psychodynamic counsellor supporting individuals through a variety of emotional and psychological challenges. I offer a warm, empathic, and accepting space where you can feel safe to explore whatever you're going through—without fear of judgment.
I specialise in working with issues such as anxiety, trauma, and depression, and I understand how isolating and overwhelming these experiences can be. My approach is rooted in psychodynamic counselling, which means we’ll work together to understand how your past relationships and experiences may be influencing your present. This deeper awareness can help you make sense of difficult emotions and patterns, and move toward meaningful change.
Therapy with me is not about quick fixes—it's about creating a space where you can be truly heard and begin to connect with your inner self at your own pace. Whether you're facing a recent challenge or something that’s been with you for a long time, I’ll meet you where you are with compassion and care.
I work with adult individuals and am committed to creating a therapeutic relationship that is respectful, collaborative, and grounded in trust. My goal is to help you feel more empowered, connected, and at ease in your life.

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Additional information
I offer a free 10 minute initial phone appointment. This will give you the opportunity to discuss what the reasons are for wanting to begin counselling. It will also give you the opportunity to meet me before deciding to go ahead with a consultation.
After this initial appointment, we will schedule a 50 minute consultation which will be a structured session that enables you to talk at depth about your experiences. It will be a chance for you to tell me what you would like to gain from counselling, and explore what your goals are.
This session involves gathering of information so I can get a better picture of your experience. It involves exploring past and present relationships, experiences and feelings. You may have lingering feelings which you can’t make sense of, that feel debilitating. You will be able to share these feelings here. Any anxieties or concerns you have about any aspect of your life. We can really start to get more of a sense of who you are now and where you would like to be in the future.
This consultation will last 50 minutes and is priced at £50. If after the consultation you decide you would like to begin your counselling journey, then we can arrange a set weekly time which accommodates us both.
I look forward to hearing from you.
